Everyday conversation

  • Annyeong Haseyo (안녕 하세요) = how are you
  • Ne (네) / ye (예) = Yes
  • Anio (아니오) = No
  • Yeoboseyo (여보세요) = Hello
  • Annyeong-hi gaseyo (안녕히 가세요) = Good-bye
  • Annyeong-hi gyeseyo (안녕히 계세요) = Good-bye
  • Eoseo oseyo (어서 오세요) = Welcome
  • Gomapseumnida (고맙습니다) / Gamsahamnida (감사 합니다) = Thanks
  • Cheonmaneyo (천만 에요) = Same-same
  • Mianhamnida (미안 합니다) = Apologize
  • Joesong-hamnida (죄송 합니다) = We are sorry
  • Gwaenchansseumnida (괜찮습 니다) = Nothing
  • Sillyehamnida (실례 합니다) = Excuse

Being in the celebration

  •     Eid, say 단식 축제 일축하 합니다 (dansik chukje chukha hamnida il) means Happy Day holiday.
  •     1 Muharram, say 1 무하람 새해 건강 하시고 복 많이 받으세요 (il sacred saehae geongan hasigo bok manhi badeuseyo) happy new year means a Muharam (AH) sense of humor and always happy.
  •     추 석 (Chuseok), say 항복한 추석 잘 보내 세요 (hangbokhan bonaeseyo Chuseok jal) is usually pronounced for older people, 항복한 추석 잘 보내요 (hangbokhan Chuseok jal bonaeyo) spoken to people much younger than us.
  •     Birthday (생일), say 생일 축하 합니다 (saengil chukha hamnida) means Happy Birthday.
  •     Marriage, say 결혼 축하 드려요 (gyeolhon chukha deuriyeoyo) means safely married.
  •     New Year, 새해 복 많이 받으세요 (saehae bok manhi badeuseyo) means Happy New Year.
  •     Weekends, 주말 잘 지내 세요 (jal jinaeseyo journals) or 좋은 주말 보내 세요 (joheun journal bonaeseyo) means Happy Week End.

  •     Gajok (가죽) = Family
  •     Halmoni (할머니) = Grandma
  •     Harabeoji (할아버지) = Grandfather
  •     Appa (아빠) = father
  •     Eomma (엄마) = Mother
  •     Hyeong (형) = older brother (who is also calling laki2)
  •     Oppa (오빠) = older brother (who called for women)
  •     Nuna (누나) = older sister (who call laki2)
  •     Eonni (언니) = older sister (who called for women)
  •     Dongsaeng (동생) = brother (Good boy / girl)
